EmPOWERment Bootcamp

2024 EmPOWERment Bootcamp will be August 5-9 and 12-16, 2024.

Upon entering the program, trainees are required to participate in a two-week intensive bootcamp prior to the start of their PhD studies that will introduce them to a sustainable energy challenge and allow them an opportunity to work in small teams to explore the problem. During the Bootcamp students will interact with professionals working within the energy sector, learn valuable professional and communication skills, and receive technical training related to data science. Trainees present their research findings as a team at the conclusion of the Bootcamp. The major goal for the Bootcamp is to acclimate trainees to one another and to the program.

The Bootcamp typically takes place 2 to 3 weeks prior to the beginning of the start of the Autumn semester and is required of all incoming EmPOWERment trainees regardless of whether they are a current or incoming PhD student.
