Submit a RISE Project Proposal
Are you looking for students to assist with research over the summer? If so, we are looking for enthusiastic professors and labs at Ohio State to mentor the 2023 class of Research In Sustainable Energy (RISE) students!
All RISE scholars are Ohio State undergraduate and masters students, or incoming Ph.D. EmPOWERment trainees. Students are admitted based on the strength of their application, desire to attend OSU for graduate school, and an interest in sustainable energy. The program is targeted to historically underrepresented students.
Students will receive a $5,000 stipend to participate over the 10 weeks, so no financial commitment is required of participating faculty; instead, a commitment to provide an academic/research mentor for the student is a condition of participation. The academic/research mentor is available to help the student navigate the research process, oversee their contributions, provide them with insights into navigating graduate studies, and offer general guidance related to career and research paths. This person should either be the project faculty member, a post-doctoral scholar, or research scientist working within the lab. Please note: It is also possible to split this position into a research supervisor who oversees the research portions and an academic mentor who advises on other issues.
If you are interested, please fill out the project submission form and we will review your project proposal and make every effort to identify and match a student with your lab for the summer.
Faculty will also have a chance to review any proposed students for their lab prior to final matching.
The RISE program runs from May 22 - July 28, 2023.
