New year of EmPOWERment kicks-off with 2-week Bootcamp

Between August 9 - 20, five incoming EmPOWERment trainees and two former RISE students participated in our annual Bootcamp challenge. Students worked in small interdisciplinary teams throughout the two weeks to explore a contemporaneous sustainable energy challenge, develop hypotheses, and deliver recommendations for adoption of more sustainable practices related to the challenge question. Students presented their work to other EmPOWERment trainees, faculty, and industry partners at the end of the two weeks. 

During the bootcamp, students were also provided opportunities to develop skills related to data analysis and visualization, communications, team-building, and mentoring.  Additionally, they had the opportunity to learn from and discuss energy issues with established professionals working within different facets of the energy sector, including Ohio State Sustainability Institute, NREL, Worthington Industries, JadeTrack (IGS), and Engie.
